Cedar and Co History

Cedar + Co. started life many moons ago as a small operation dedicated to servicing the needs of small businesses. Like many businesses, hard work by a handful of people led to rapid growth. Having established a firm reputation in the Derby area, the decision was made to expand our presence. This resulted in the purchase of an existing accountancy practice and in 2005 Cedar + Co. Alfreton was born. Success breeds success and before long, the business was flourishing as a thriving general accountancy practice – almost to the point where we couldn’t handle any more work!

It was at this point that the directors sat down and took a long hard look at the company and the way it worked. A decision was made that what we really want to do, what really makes us want to get out of bed in the morning is add value to our clients businesses and in turn their lives. So that’s what we decided to do. More important than just deciding to do it, it’s what we actually do. One of the reasons we’re good at it, is we’re very selective about who we choose to work with. We won’t take just anyone on as a client. We have to believe that you’re just as dedicated to growing your business as we will be. Another is that we hand pick our team members to ensure that their goals are aligned with ours and also yours. They have to believe in our philosophy so that we can make it happen.

So although we’re proud of our history and where we’ve come from, it’s not nearly as important as where we’re going.
